Very grateful to have spent yesterday surrounded by all my galentines and the friendships that make my life so full. 


ā€œPraise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and willā€”ā€
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭


God loved us before He created us, before He knew us, before He planned for us and before He chose us. 


To know we were predestined by God is to know we were marked out specially as individuals to be His children. The more we can wrap our minds around this the more we will praise Him, the more it deepens our joy to be here and understand why we are here. Prior to being born we were set apart and there aren’t any details in our lives that are not planned out by Him for our good. 


He predestined us for adoption. Gifting us the privileges of living with God as our Father. We don’t have to wait for a certain time or age to come, there’s no point in our growth that we’ve earned it, or need to accomplish enough to join. From the moment we invite God into our lives we are adopted and begin living as brothers and sisters of Jesus. We won’t be more of a child of God than we are now and will be in Heaven. He put His name on us, gave us the gift of the Spirit, became our provider, our protector, our refuge, made us compete and gifted us the promise of eternity. ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ ‭


Adoption through Jesus Christ. ā€œBut when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ā€œAbba, Father.ā€ So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.ā€ Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ Jesus, the righteous one took our place as the unrighteousness so we may then belong to His family. He is the channel which blessings flow.

In accordance with his pleasure and will. The Lord knows us and loves us. Prior to us existing He set His love on us. He made His plan to send His son as our savior in order to forge a personal relationship with each of us. He marked out our destiny by choosing us in Christ according to His will.

If there’s ever any doubt that you belong to God, rest assured that you were chosen before you arrived. We can be certain we are His, God loves us and He has purpose in all of us.

Facing Fear with Jesus 2.8.26

Hi family, 


Hebrews 5:7 ā€˜who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,’

There are two types of fear in the Bible. In the verse above Jesus is praying with godly fear. Fear of the Lord is not fearing our Father. It isn’t fearing disappointing Him, worrying about His opinion of us, or aiming to please. Fear of the Lord is reverence and devotion. It’s living in awe of God’s work in our lives; it’s prayers of thanksgiving and worship. The more knowledge of God and His mercies for us we have, the more our fear of Him grows. The second type of fear is the natural fear from living in a fallen world. That fear was created when Adam sinned in the garden. Adam’s recognition of his sin and wanting to be hidden.

Proverbs 14:26-27

ā€˜Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,
    and for their children it will be a refuge.

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
    turning a person from the snares of death.’

 

Fear for us doesn’t always derive from sin. Like pain, fear is a necessity. It can prompt us to search where it is coming from, grow our trust in the Lord and protect us from danger. Fear is often used to minister our walk with God. When we are the masters of our fear God can use it for purposes to refine us. When we fear our sin, He can lead us into repentance. When we fear for the wellbeing of others it can lead to prayer. When we have fear of man, we can turn to our security in the Lord and His promises. Fear becomes dangerous when it is a master over us; it can keep us from prosperity, from doing things that will lead to growth of ourselves. There is a thin line between fear and courage.

The remedy for destructive fear? Christ.

Jesus is all knowing, He knows the beginning to end. His sovereignty is in control of every detail of the circumstances that hold our fears. Jesus calms our storms. When we are aware of our fears and anxieties we are able to address them and in turn bring light and truth to rebuke them.

Mark 4:35-40 ā€˜That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, ā€œLet us go over to the other side.ā€ Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ā€œTeacher, don’t you care if we drown?ā€

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ā€œQuiet! Be still!ā€ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, ā€œWhy are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?ā€

Jesus entered humanity to experience everything we do. There isn’t anything we go through in life that Jesus didn’t encounter in His time here. Not only did He endure all, but He did it sinlessly. He’s equipped to handle our fears.

Matthew 28:20 ā€˜And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’

Jesus does not promise to remove our fears, but He promises His presence. His word is truth and He is never changing. We have assurance His presence will never be removed from us.

Let us Pray 2.1.26

 

Hi friends,


I’m thankful today to be writing to you, by the grace of God. Last week I procrastinated so hard I never sent out a message. I had fear of expectations & had been lacking in spending time in prayer.  Truthfully, I’ve been feeling stuck for a few weeks, my growing in faith has felt stagnant and I’ve been struggling to work through it. I read scripture daily and the wisdom of God’s word is in my head but has felt distant from my heart. With the pace of life and events I still struggle to slow down, to ask for prayers, to sit with God. It can feel like I’m learning the same lesson on repeat. Spending time in prayer can feel like an obligation and the more I avoid it the more distance grows. 


So today, I’m asking you all for your help. My original idea that created this newsletter was prayer. On Sundays I wanted a way to text/reach everyone in my life and ask what they needed prayer for that week. Instead of texting individually an idea for a group email was born and from there came a website and a newsletter. While I’m super grateful for the engagement over the last few months I’ve seemed to lose sight of my main goal in this. Not only to encourage but to pray for you all. I’ve created a phone number for prayer requests to make it easier to reach: 443-228-8313

  1. Don’t focus on what we want or how we want things to go ā€œWe will never ask God what do if we always think we know what to do. & we will never seek God’s will if we keep staring at what we want. The more time we spend frustrated about where God has us, the longer we’ll stay thereā€
  2. Look consistently for correction. The little nudges we feel throughout the day. To pray, to stop complaining, to take a breath and reset. They aren’t from ourselves, they are from God. Don’t ignore His convictions in your heart.
  3. Don’t put it off until tomorrow. Putting it off one day moves into the next into the next week into the next month. ā€œThe more faithful we are today the more God will give us to steward tomorrow. The request God gives us today is the test before the responsibility God wants to give us tomorrow.ā€ 


No time with God has to be lengthy or perfect. 5 minutes one day can turn into 10 the next. The moment you feel a reminder to pray, take it. Step away for 30 seconds just to give thanksgiving. The smallest of moments lead to rhythm with Jesus. He’s just looking for an invitation. 


Intimacy with God leads to 

obedience which leads to 

favor which leads to 

opportunity

Overcoming the Enemies 1.19.26

Hello šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ The greatest thing about this weekly email is the wisdom God gifts me while putting it together. I always think I know how it will go and I am always wrong. As if dropping my ski from the lift Saturday wasn’t humbling enough. Praying for an encouraging week in your faith for each of you.

James 4:4-10 ā€˜You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
ā€œGod opposes the proud
    but shows favor to the humble.ā€
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.’

3 of our greatest enemies:
1. Our flesh/temptations
2. The devil
3. The world

Our sinful nature desires what is contrary to our Spirit, which is why we often don’t feel free. Rather than trying to improve our flesh, we can acknowledge it’s desires and bring them to the Lord. Telling God that anger is ruling over us, or jealously, or greed. Entering truth by faith not by works. The Holy Spirit waits to be invited in and begin His work. Temptations of the flesh are replaced by the fruit of the Holy Spirit’s control.

Our flesh: human nature, our tendencies towards selfishness, sin & pride. Sin begins with desires hidden in our hearts that don’t align with God’s will for us. When we don’t address the desires, we let them grow into thought, which grow into action. Our sinful behavior then brings separation between us and God. We are in constant warfare against sin throughout every day. Before it becomes action, bring the desires to the Lord. We are not victorious on our own, but God is. The further we expand our knowledge of the Lord, the further we understand His multiplied grace for us. When we leave desires of ourselves unchecked, we live our lives only for ourselves. Colossians 3:2-3 ā€˜Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.’  The more Heavenly minded we are, the more good we will do on earth, the more at peace we will have.

The devil: the enemy, he rules the kingdom of darkness and brings deception upon us. He puts thoughts into our minds and twists the truths of the Lord that live in our hearts. He plants seeds of doubt and entices us towards sin, convincing us it’s harmless. He will seek to overcome our will if we let him. Satan magnifies our failures and minimizes grace. He isn’t after our comfort, but he is after our calling, making sure we don’t feel worthy. God is not a God of confusion. When we are in scripture daily, we are reminded of the truth. We are reminded if it doesn’t line up with the truth of the gospel, it isn’t from God.

The world: The values, external pressures, attitudes and cultural messages from society that draw us away from God. Sins of the flesh are tempted to us by the world: through social media, sports movies, music, etc. The world has opposition to Christ. Keeping us distracted and caught up in lust, deceit, pride. Galatians 5:13 ā€˜You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.’ When Christ died on the cross, we died with Him. The temptations are not dead but the control they have over of us are.

The antidote to our enemies is nearness to Christ. To lean into our time with Him and rely on God to help us avoid the sins and distractions of our world. James 4:5 ā€˜Or do you think Scripture says without reason that He jealously longs for the Spirit He has caused to dwell in us?’ God wants our loyalty all to Himself. Despite when we wander away and embrace what the world has to offer while ignoring what God desires, He still yearns for relationship with us. It is our motivation to keep only God’s desires in our hearts. Making daily choices based on our relationship with Jesus. Resist the devil and He will flee. The Lord will lift us up.

In the book of Mark as Jesus walked through the crowds of people there was a woman who had been sick for years. She reached out with faith and touched Jesus’ cloak. The moment she touched His cloak she was not only healed physically but set free from her bondage. Jesus turned around when He had felt the power go out of Him. The difference between this woman and every other person bumping into Jesus in the crowd was her reaching out to Him in faith. Our personal contact with our savior is the antidote to enduring all temptation. ā€œHe receives sinners, He is faithful to forgive, He gives wisdom and He promises to give us all the grave we need for Godly living, resisting the flesh. He keeps our hearts. All of that grace is in Him and in His hands. He’s just waiting for an empty vessel to come to Him and ask for help with humility and sincerity.ā€ Walk in honesty with God, walk in death, affirming the death of the enemy’s rule over you & walk in step with the Spirit. We will find freedom over our flesh.

Galatians 5:22-25 ā€˜But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.’

God is Light 1.11.26

Good evening āš”ļø
As the new year starts we often try to change things about ourselves. With a fresh start we want to be better in different aspects and create new habits. We set goals and expectations of ourselves that turn into disappointment and shame if we let ourselves down.

I’ve probably touched on this in past emails but I felt called to remind myself and share with all of you. I listened to a sermon this morning with 2 main points:

1. The eternal God came to the world for fellowship with us
2. God is light

1 John 1:1-7 ā€œThat which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.ā€

We all experience spiritual laziness. We get busy, lose routine, we skip over prayer time for other priorities and we start to carry shame around. We have seasons we wish had done more to connect with God.

1. When we stray away from the light and are attempting to find our way back: instead of listing out all the steps we need to take to do better; we need to acknowledge our step back towards the light means that God is moving in our lives. That is enough. Our faith isn’t a mountain to climb by ourselves but a path to walk with God. And if we stray from the path, He rejoices when we return. He’s not worried about the timing of our growth, it’s a walk.

Our part: opening our hearts. We can learn all of the knowledge we want about God and then take the knowledge to try to do better but we’ll still be walking in darkness. It’s not the knowledge of God but knowing Him personally. Not only learning and wanting change but our spirits being touched. ā€œThat worry you feel at night so you put on Netflix to distract yourself, God wants to be in that conversation.ā€

2. God is light. He lights our path step by step everyday. Jesus was sent to the world to save us from walking in the darkness of the world. To save us from walking in dependence of ourselves. Our society cheers us on when we are able to be independent. God reveals our independence to us. His light allows us to see ourselves in ways we couldn’t before. When we begin to see ourselves our natural tendency is to fix ourselves. God says I see you, all of you, walk with me. Shame becomes a mirror we can learn from instead of trying to cover that shame with good works and distractions.

ā€œThe moment you believe in Jesus you begin to walk in light. The light inside of you gives you security because you’re standing with God is secure. It’s no longer dependent on yourself. Christianity is the only philosophy/religion that grants you the absolute assurance of where you stand now with God. All other religions say you’re saved by your life, behavior, and actions. You never know if you’re saved until your life is done. The only one that says you’re saved by someone else’s life. He is the light.ā€

As we go into the new year let us lave behind the to do list to earn God’s love and walk in who we are in Christ. Our joy is incomplete without Him. It doesn’t mean we will live sinless but it means to let the light illuminate us. Show us the parts of ourselves we don’t want to see and walk them out with the Lord. See ourselves and confess. Agree with God. ā€œLord, in light of your loving presence, I look at my life and I am not as I should be.ā€ When we confess He answers with love, faithfulness, and purifies us.

Everything I’ve stressed about in my faith and tried to force happen doesn’t pan out. When I walk persistently with the Lord every person that’s come into my life has happened effortlessly. Every place I end up. Every job I’ve had. I look back in awe of God’s hand in the details.

Matthew 5:14-16 ā€œYou are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.ā€

The final part: the Task 12.28.25

Hi friends,

If you are sick of hearing about love, good news: this is the 3rd and final part. The last three weeks have transformed a new perspective in my heart that I didn’t see coming and am super grateful for this outlet and conversations with some of you to help guide me there. After contrasting love, analyzing it, we have come to the defense & the task.

The defense: love lasts. Everything else is fleeting, temporary but love never fails. ā€œA schoolboy knows more today than Sir Isaac Newton knew; his knowledge has vanished away.ā€ Who we are as people stretches far beyond what we do. When speaking of what a life with Jesus is like we should not just speak of greater joy, peace, rest, or safety. But instead of the abundance of love, the abundance of life we are given. Abundance of salvation. ā€œWe want to live forever for the same reason that we want to live tomorrow. Why do we want to live tomorrow? Is it because there is someone who loves you, and whom you want to see tomorrow, and be with, and love back? There is no other reason why we should live on than that we love and are beloved.ā€

The task: to learn love. To take these things into our characters. We are given opportunities throughout every day for practice. ā€œThe world is not a playground; it is a schoolroom. Life is not a holiday but an education. And one eternal lesson for us all is how better we can love. If a man does not exercise his arm he develops no biceps muscle; and if a man does not exercise his soul, he acquires no muscle in his soul, no strength of character, no vigor of moral fibre, no beauty of spiritual growth. Love is not a thing of enthusiastic emotion. It is an expression of the whole round Christian character- the Christlike nature in its fullest development. And the constituents of this great character are only to be built up by ceaseless practice.ā€

One thing Henry Drummond points out in this chapter struck a cord with me. We often find ourselves complaining of everyday inconveniences, situations, environments we must be in and temptations to endure. Henry explains not to resent any of it. All of it is opportunity. This is our practice. It surrounds us every day in a million small moments. ā€œThat is the practice which God appoints you; and it is having its work in making you patient, and humble, and generous, and unselfish, and kind, and courteous. Do not grudge the hand that is molding the still too shapeless image within you. It is growing more beautiful, though you see it not; and every touch of temptation may add to its perfection. Therefore, be in the midst of life. Do not isolate yourself. Be among men and among things, and among troubles, and difficulties, and obstacles. You remember Goethe’s words: Talent develops itself in solitude; character in the stream of life.ā€ 

God didn’t send us Jesus out of obligation but out of His love to save us. Love does not exist without sacrifice. God gave His son. It always costs something. Jesus died not just for those who loved Him but also for those who despised and rejected Him. ā€œJesus calls us to love people beyond the people who love us back and are easy to love; He calls us into sacrificial love that is free from prejudice, full of humility and guided by the Holy Spirit. When you love like that, you give people a glimpse of the savior.ā€ It sounds easy until it becomes personal. Until we think about that one person in our lives we continue to wrestle with. How can we love them better?

ā€œWe are her not to fight the wicked and bring them to justice but to serve them and bring them to Christ.ā€

Part II: The Greatest Thing in the World

Last week I introduced the book by Henry Drummond & the letter of the apostle Paul Jo 1 Corinthians 13. The beginning of the book is the components and contrast of love. Henry then goes on to analyze the components and the meaning behind them. Christ brought peace on earth by embodying these ingredients. ā€œReligion is not a strange or added thing, but the inspiration of the secular life, the breathing of an eternal spirit through this temporal world. The supreme thing, in short, is not a thing at all, but the giving of a further finish to the multitudinous words and acts which make up the sum of every common day.ā€

The analysis – love is patience: love is having understanding and therefore it waits. It is passive, it’s not in a rush. When the time comes for patience, it is always ready for its work. Love is kindness: love is active. Look at the life of Christ. He spent almost all His time with others, making them happy. Others’ happiness in our lives largely surrounds our kindness to them. ā€œThe greatest thing a man can do for his Heavenly Father is to be kind to some of His other children.ā€ Where love is, God is. Kindness acts instantaneously and always pays itself back. Love never fails. ā€œTherefore, love. Without distinction, without calculation, without procrastination, love.ā€ Love is generosity: to love without competition. Without envy. Without comparison. Trying to please and giving pleasure are two different things. Give love and give often. Love is humility: to keep our acts of kindness between ourselves & God. To love in hiding. Love is not puffed up. Our pride is not more significant than our kindness. Love is courtesy: ā€œthere was no truer gentleman in Europe than the ploughman-poet. It was because he loved everything- the mouse, and the daisy, and all the things, great and small, that God had made. So with this simple passport he could mingle with any society and enter courts and palaces from his little cottageā€ Gentleman – a gentle man. Love is unselfishness: deeper than just giving up our things but giving up ourselves. To not seek things for ourselves. It is more difficult to give up what we think we deserve than to not seek for ourselves at all. Christ says His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Giving up our desires to serve Him fulfills us more than anything we desire can. Taking a lesson from His teaching, we learn there is no happiness in getting but only in giving.

Love is good temper: love is not provoked. ā€œIt is often the one blot on an otherwise noble character. You know men who are all but perfect, and women who would be entirely perfect, but for an easily ruffed, quick-tempered, or ā€œtouchyā€ disposition.ā€ We all have bubbles of frustration that live deep beneath the surface & we try not to let them escape to the top. It’s not the temper itself that needs addressing but what it reveals. ā€œNo form of vice, not worldliness, not greed of gold, not drunkenness itself, does more to unchristianize society than evil temper.ā€ When we’re tired, our guards are down the bubbles come to the surface, they reveal in us an unloving nature. We can display in one flash of temper our longing for more patience, love. We must dig within ourselves past the temper to find out the source of hurt. As we begin to the let of Spirit of Christ dwell within us, we are filled with more love and less bubbles. He is the only one able to transform us, to eradicate what is wrong. Time and willpower can not change a person, Christ does. Love is guilelessness & sincerity: the people who influence us are the people who believe in us. Love has no evil, no motive, sees the best in everyone and everything. ā€œAnd if we try to influence or elevate others, we shall soon see that success is in proportion to their belief of our belief in them. The respect of another is the first restoration of the self-respect a man has lost; our ideal of what he is becomes to him the hope and pattern of what he may become.ā€ Not to rejoice in another’s faults or weaknesses but to see them as they are. Love rejoices in the truth.

Reading this book has been very timely (as God always is) for me. The holiday season brings a lot of emotion for many of us. We miss those who are no longer here, we miss those who are far away. The pressures of getting all the right gifts, showing up with a smile even if we are struggling, having it all together. Family can be hard. Loving each other when we have our own internal battles can be hard. But the lesson today: love never fails. It covers all. Lead with love without looking for anything in return or a pat on the back. Give grace, understanding and follow the example of Christ even & especially to those we feel may not deserve it. Try not to lose sight of what it’s all about. We all want to feel seen and loved. Count your blessings. We’re not alone. He is with us. Always

The Greatest Thing in the World 12.14.25

Good morning! Happy snow day! ā„ļø 


I didn’t intend to skip last week’s email, and I personally apologize to the Burns family who thought I forgot them on the list again šŸ˜‚ . This time of year can get hectic and stressful. I beg you all (mainly because I am begging myself) to slow down and take in the moments we spend together. & most importantly love each other. Two weeks ago, in my email I mentioned reading the book ā€˜The Greatest Thing in the World: Experience the Enduring Power of Love’ by Henry Drummond. I’ve reread it a few times since then and while short, the words on every page are impactful.


This book is a breakdown of the letter written by the apostle Paul to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 13. The author Henry explains how in Paul’s letter he first contrasts love, analyzes love & finally his defense for love.


Part 1:

1 Corinthians 13:13 ā€˜And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’

Paul describes love in nine components: patience, kindness, humility, generosity, courtesy, unselfishness, good temper, guilelessness & sincerity. We only have one life in front of us and the most supreme gift of life is love. Our goal in life as Christians is to look more like Christ. He fed the hungry, clothed the poor, healed the sick, encouraged His followers, gave His time generously, prayed over His friends. His character was built on love. God gave 10 commandments to Moses in the Old Testament for the Israelites to live by. The Israelites were never able to fulfill the law, they always fell short. Jesus lived a perfect life of obedience to love God & love His neighbor and by living out of love He was able to live in obedience to all laws. He was the fulfillment of the law and by believing in Him we are given life. ā€œand so if he loved man, you would never think of telling him to honor his father and mother. He could not do anything else.ā€ There are many things we strive to be in life. We strive to be a good person, to do the right thing, to be happy, to be successful, to be loved, to be kind. By putting love at the center of our being, it covers it all. 1 Corinthians 13:2 ā€˜and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.’


The contrast – Paul contrasts the difference between love & things we think highly of. Paul says, ā€œIf I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not love, I am become sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.ā€ Words & actions without emotion are meaningless, they have no impact, are hallow, like bouncing off a cymbal. Love is greater than faith because the end is greater than the means. ā€œWhat is the use of having faith? It is to connect the soul with God. And what is the object of connecting man with God? That he may become like God. But God is love. Hence faith, the means, is in order to love, the end.ā€ Love is greater than charity because charity is only a small part of love. If we are doing good works without good intentions it means nothing. Charity without love is giving a few dollars to the beggar on the street to settle the guilt inside of us. If we really loved him we would either do more or less for him. Another reason love is supreme is because it is a universal language.  Henry writes ā€œit is the man who is the missionary, it is not his words. His character is his message. In the heart of Africa, among the great lakes, I have come across black men and women who remembered the only white man they ever saw before- David Livingstone; and as you cross his footsteps in that dark continent, men’s faces light up as they speak of the kind doctor who passed there years ago. They could not understand him; but they felt the love that beat in his heart.ā€ Take love into our world, in every aspect. ā€œYou can take nothing greater, you need take nothing less. You may take every accomplishment; you may be braced for every sacrifice; but if you give you body to be burned, and have not love, it will profit you and the cause of Christ nothing.ā€

As I said last week, I want to start sharing readings and reflections together to learn from one another. I’ve been talking with friends about starting a book club together so this week will be a trial run. If you want to join in, I am going to reread ā€˜The Greatest Thing in the World – Experience the Enduring Power of Love’ by Henry Drummond. It’s 18 pages so it can be read in one sitting. I’ve attached the PDF version to this email and an amazon link below. I also created a new section on my website with discussion questions for this book. Please let me know what you think and I will share some insights next week!

Isaiah 25:4 ā€˜You have been a refuge for the poor,
    a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
    and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
    is like a storm driving against a wall’
Finding deliverance in Jesus. In this verse Jesus is revealed as three aspects to us: our strength, our refuge and our shade.

In attempting to walk in the likeness of Jesus on our own we are all needy, lacking & weak. In a moment, we can go from loving to irritable. Jesus is our strength. He is a fortress, a stronghold, He protects us from ourselves. A prayer in the morning for help isn’t enough to sustain us all day, we are human. We need to constantly ask Him to give us fresh patience, forgiveness, wisdom, mercy, love, and grace to give others that does not come on our own. He is our hope that we may start to look like Him in all ways and spread His light to others. He surrounds us & is always ready to help when we ask.

When we’re standing before our struggles it’s often difficult to see the way through. With Jesus, we can walk through the fire and are not burned. He covers us with His compassion, comfort and love. He grieves with us. He is our refuge, our place to hide when our hearts are feeling low. He is a calm retreat to run to when we run out of answers. We are always kept by Him. Jesus will always meet you wherever you are. In your confusion, anger, in your tears, in your doubts. Tell Him about it all and He finds you and makes sure you are safe to feel it all. He will never give up running towards us even in times when we are running away.

Our shade. Psalm 121:5 ā€˜The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand;’ When we come near Him, He provides the shade, the rest. When we become weary, in prayer He lifts us up. As we lean into Him, we are covered. To enjoy the shade, you must be near it.

Personally, I felt freer this week in God’s light than I have in some time. I found myself throughout my day asking for God’s help to show love when I didn’t feel it in me. To find peace in hard conversations and circumstances out of my control. To give me endurance during a workout. To encourage me to pray at night when my eyes want to close. To help me find patience in waiting for some of His promises set before me. In the past I’ve thought it was selfish to pray for myself all day but it’s what God wants. Relationship.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Gratitude is a perspective that takes practice. To be able to shift your focus and view is a gift. Throughout scripture the mention of giving thanks is repeated consistently. Not just giving thanks when everything is going well but especially giving thanks when you are struggling. It changes our heart posture. It takes our perspective from sorrow to joy. When we can shift our minds away from what we lack and list out what we have been given by the Lord the world is lighter. Our problems no longer seem so huge. The light at the end of the tunnel begins to shine loud enough that there is no tunnel at all. Only hope is left. Our hope in our Lord who is sovereign. For every single one of you I am grateful. I once told my brother when I was beginning to explore my faith that I was grateful for his guidance; he responded ā€œMe too. Jesus through me. Nothing could be more fulfilling.ā€ I didn’t understand the sentiment of that until now. Let us all take time this week with our loved ones to give thanks to the Lord.

I’ve been reflecting on why I created this forum and it was to create community, to share faith, testimonies & prayer together. Starting next week, I’m going to be sharing readings that we can do together for reflection. Instead of me always talking at you, for you all to share in it.

The harvesting season came to an end this past Tuesday at First Fruits Farm. The season wrapped up early with harvesting kale as the farm had so many volunteers this summer they were ahead of schedule! Special thanks to all who joined me over the last few months:

Carrying Your Cross 11.16.25

Happy Sunday Family šŸ™‚
I waited to write to you all today until after church because I knew the sermon would be a special one. The last few years in November my family and I go to my grandfather’s church to honor the anniversary of his passing. It was such a special place to him and he made a significant impact on the people who still attend there today. I always feel his presence sitting in those pews.

Thank you for making this newsletter a part of your Sunday. šŸ¤ As we approach the holidays God has put it on my heart to use this newsletter as an opportunity to help those in need. Today’s sermon revolved around what it looks like to give your life to Jesus. To be a follower of Jesus is to be set apart from the world. We are not common. Our worries and anxieties should not be the same as the common because we are separated. Our hope doesn’t live in the optimism of the world but our hope lives in the eternal. He already has the plans laid out from beginning to end to bless us for His glory. It’s a promise that we can rest in. We have peace that surpasses all understanding. We have a comfort the world does not know. Our sins are paid for. We are able to know Jesus as we have been known ourselves. We live with grand excitement in preparation of living with God our Father forever. In the book of Philippians Paul wrestled with the idea of which was better: to be on earth sharing the gospel and bringing others to Jesus or to die to be with our creator. Those persecuting Paul didn’t know what to do with him. He wasn’t afraid to die and when they locked him up he turned the guards into believers. His light couldn’t be diminished. He was an example for us all in walking step by step in obedience.

Many of us Christians struggle to carry their cross. We go through the motions, we pray, we memorize verses but we don’t fully surrender. We don’t want to hold the accountability of living to honor God in every moment. When things get messy we don’t trust His plan is truly better than taking control of it ourselves. We grow impatient with His timing and take matters into our own hands, struggling to submit to the Lord in all of our ways. We want to go to Heaven but not have to be obedient on earth. It’s not an easy walk, it’s sacrificing and committing each day. We have to die to ourselves, our comfort, our desires, our pride, our habits and cut off what is no longer serving us. For the life we live is not for us but for Him. I’ve spent a lot of my walk with God unlearning what the world has taught me. The light exposes all of the dark parts of us and saves us from ourselves.

What is something that is holding you back from your walk with God?

1 John 16-18 ā€œThis is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.ā€

Part II 11.9.25

Hi from the airport!

I had the honor of standing by one of my very best friends on her wedding day this weekend in palm beach. I’m heading home with a full heart and gratitude for the incredible people that God surrounds me with.

Part II on vulnerability:
In the book of Gensis, Adam and Eve hide as God calls out to them after eating the fruit. The problem wasn’t their sin but the hiding. The test of your trust in God is in your response to your sin. Jesus already knows all that lives in your heart, but He still wants to hear it from you to bring you closer. ā€œLike an MRI shows us what is wrong in our bodies, seeing our sin is a gift.ā€ Megan Marshman. It gives us the opportunity to go to God and improve our faith in Him.

Last week I spoke about vulnerability. Vulnerability is the absence of hiding, showing all parts of yourself in full, leaving nothing covered. Frequently when I am hiding from God, I’m doing it subconsciously. It’s an impulse reaction and unwillingness to God that I am working on being more aware of. There’s an unsettling feeling in my gut alerting me that I’ve done something I’m not proud of. But instead of addressing it, I avoid prayer until I feel ā€œgoodā€ enough to approach Him again. Through God’s grace I’ve been slowly learning that our mistakes could never change His love for us. The abundance of His love moves us towards our greater purpose. It’s easy to say ā€˜in everything go to God’ but to live it is another thing. I want my knee jerk reaction in all circumstances to turn to prayer. I’m learning to go to Him always not just when I feel I’ve been a ā€œgoodā€ steward that day. For I’m not righteous on my own but righteous through the faith I have in Christ.

Psalm 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgive, whose sin is covered.

There are several Psalms that start with ā€˜Blessed is’ usually referring to how to walk in the Lord’s way. This Psalm is for the sinner. Psalm 32 is written by King David in a time when he was turning back to the Lord. David in his reign as king had committed many transgressions including the murder of Uriah, to cover up his affair with Uriah’s wife. Psalm 32:3-4 ā€œWhen I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on meā€ Initially, as David hid his mistakes from Lord he was living in constant agony.

I listened to a sermon that spoke on the blessing of continual forgiveness we receive. To highlight the blessing, we must consider: the seriousness of our sin, how we are completely forgiven, not partially, the cost of the forgiveness we receive and the giver of forgiveness.

To sin is when we miss the mark. We act out of selfishness deliberately and intentionally as our own God. To live as God’s laws do not apply to us and fail to acknowledge Him in all of our ways. The cost: Jesus on the cross. 2 Samuel 12:13 ā€œThen David said to Nathan ā€˜I have sinned against the Lord.’ Nathan replied ā€˜The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.ā€ The moment David turned away from his sin and uncovered his mistakes, he was forgiven. Fully and freely forgiven, our sins are covered and concealed by the blood of Jesus. Romans 3:25 ā€œGod presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood – to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed before unpunished.ā€ God is the giver of our forgiveness. When we leave our sins at His feet, He lifts them up and takes them away. He removes our shame and guilt and points us in the direction of something better. He takes our view away from ourselves and points our eyes to Him and His glory.

Vulnerability isn’t weakness - it’s the pathway back to Him. God will always meet where you are, every single time. There is no blessed man that hasn’t been forgiven. Bring all your burdens and mistakes to the Lord. You can know the joy of your forgiveness if you know the depth of your sin. We are more sinful and flawed than we believe. We are also more loved and accepted for who we are in Jesus more than we could hope for. Every time I take my mistakes to the Lord, I feel relief washing over my spirit. And every time I wonder why I avoided the prayer for so long, leaving myself in agony. Avoid the hurt, go straight to the Lord in all of your ways.

Vulnerability 11.2.25

Good morning,
I apologize for the delay with this newsletter reaching you. I had some trouble returning to reality when I arrived back from vacation. Happy to be home & rejuvenated.

2 Corinthians 12:9 ā€œBut he said to me, ā€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.ā€ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.ā€

Part 1:
On my first week of sharing with you I had trouble envisioning getting to week 10 and still having anything to say but Jesus prevails !!! To all of you still reading, thank you for being here. With each week that goes by I wish I could say vulnerability gets a lot easier, but the truth is with each email I send there are still questions of doubt that run through my mind. Growing up vulnerability wasn’t something I was familiar with. My mom used to call me ā€˜tough’ daily and it was not a compliment lol love u mom. I had a hard exterior that I thought was some form of protection from being hurt. God has been softening my heart with each day that goes by.

When I first started to get to know God on a personal level most of my prayers were mostly thank yous and small requests that I thought God would want to hear. Most of it was surface level, almost being polite instead of talking to a friend. Until one night I hit a breaking point. I don’t remember what particularly upset me that day, but I remember going into my room in Baltimore, kneeling next to my bed and letting my heart out crying for help. I said everything I was feeling without holding back or trying to pray in a certain manor. Shortly after I went to bed and as I drifted into sleep my entire bed was shaking. To the point that I sat up looking around and questioned if it was an earthquake. It didn’t take me long to figure out what had happened. God was responding to my vulnerable cry of prayer. ā€œTo be 95% known is still unknown, you won’t fully receive God’s love if you are hiding part of yourself.ā€ When you are honest about your weaknesses, God will give more of His strength to you.

I heard on a reel on Instagram today ā€˜say the quiet part out loud’. The thing you are scared to say, that you may feel shame about, the feeling you’ve been hoping would go away eventually. Hard conversations, hard truths, sharing the deepest parts of ourselves with others brings us closer together. It brings connection, relation to each other, understanding, compassion. Jesus was a safe place for all. John 8:7 ā€œLet any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.ā€ The people brought in front of Jesus an adulterer who they wanted punished. Jesus waited as each one of them walked away. As no one condemned the woman, Jesus set her free. If we are a safe space to those in our lives it brings us closer together. If we hear each other’s pain and mistakes and are not offended, we can understand each other in disagreement. You can’t be curious and offended at the same time. Ask questions, be curious about the meaning, the story behind one’s opinions. ā€œJesus on the cross was the greatest act of strength while simultaneously the greatest display of vulnerability.ā€ Vulnerability = strength.

B u r n o u t 10.26.25

To my biggest fans:
Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Suggestion: downloading the Bible app on your phone. It brings a verse of the day every morning and has a library of Bible plans you can work through. This week I completed a 6-day plan called ā€˜Burnout & God’s Invitation to Rest’. Burnout is aomething I’ve struggled with for a long time.

Anyone that knows me well knows that I am there. In any way one human can be: when my grandparents’ technology breaks once a week, when a friend needs advice, to cry, to vent, when my nephews want to play, when my cousin is painting his house, etc. God created my heart to give and it’s a blessing to watch Him work through me when I handle that gift with intention.

Some things I learned in this week’s bible plan: There is a good tired and there is overtired. Good tired at the end of the day is when we can relax and recover for the next day. Overtired is when we push ourselves too far. Each day as we push too far, we grow into more of a rhythm of irritability. We get stuck in patterns and habits we don’t enjoy but keep returning to expecting a different result. We turn to escapist behaviors, clinging to things for comfort and being left emptier and more exhausted than when we started. Bingeing tv shows, drinking, scrolling through a rabbit hole of reels, avoiding the anxiety instead of addressing our feelings. We let our needs slip through the cracks. Running ourselves into the ground is not God’s design for us. Our call is to do His work with Him, not the demands set before us and pressures of society. Social status, people pleasing, climbing the ladder, rushing from one event to the next, living in comparison.

I took time to observe my behaviors this week. Things I noticed: answering emails after 5 PM that could wait til tomorrow, speeding to work, changing lanes at every red light to be in the smaller line, being impatient with the mom struggling in front of me in line at the grocery store, having an attitude at work, skimming a recipe and making the worst pizza I’ve ever had in my entire life to the point I threw out the whole dinner (IYKYK). Always trying to get the next thing over with. Not stopping to be present. Frustrations grew and each day built into the next.

When asked to make plans, take on a new project at work, help out a friend I used to say yes to everything without a second thought. Over the years, I’ve run around in circles, double booked myself and showed up to many things with nothing left in me. More recently I say yes to things with intention. I want to show up to spend time with people I love with my full self being present with them. When I’m under pressure at work I want Jesus to be squeezed out of me, not irritability.

What I have been learning is that I’ve been operating out of misplaced identity. I’ve entangled my self-worth with how much I can be there for people in my life. I often do things to feel valued without even being aware of the why behind what I do. I’ve had to take a step back and realize that just as God does not love me for my accomplishments, neither do the people in my life. God loves me because I am His child, not for how I can be of service to Him. I’m learning to be confident in my identity in God. To not prove my worth to anyone. To have a fear and reverence of God, not of man. To not have to be included in everything, to not have to show up for everyone all the time. To put God first which results in putting myself first. I am secure in God’s love for me.

As God is my refuge, I don’t have to look for comfort in anything but Him. When we can partner with God we live in His blessings, we leave fulfilled in God’s joy. When we say yes when God tells us to and to rest when He leads you to rest. To listen to the conviction that lives inside of you. Don’t ignore His voice. The reason the farm I volunteer at is called ā€˜First Fruits Farm’ is because God deserves our first fruits, not the leftovers. That is why the mornings I spend with Him are so crucial to my relationship with Him to lead my day with intention. You don’t have to produce or preform, just as parents want to spend time with their children, God wants to spend time with you.

ā€œYou are secure in Him.
He is your refuge.
He includes you.
He delights in you.
You have His approval.
You are significant to Him.
He gives you meaning.
You can rest in His finished work.
He takes all your guilt.
You are free to be in Him.
He accepts you.ā€

Time in prayer: God, who knit me together, I’ve been doing too much because I’ve been trying to be the best I can be. But I know now that doing more isn’t the answer. Holy Spirit, give me eyes to see my intentions behind each of my commitments with clarity. Give me wisdom to know what to give up and what to keep doing. As I read these scripture passages today, help my heart to absorb messages of your love- love that exist not because of what I do but simply because I’m yours. In Jesus name, Amen.

Speaking of rest, I’m leaving at 4 AM for Aruba for a week of reset.šŸ˜Ž

Grace cannot be Measured 10.19.25

Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s Grace

Wake up it’s Sunday ! ! ! Hi my people,
Two weeks ago, our Pastor preached on the significance of this verse. Since then, it hasn’t left my mind, and it keeps coming back to me in different ways. I sat in the back pew by myself with tears in my eyes as he wrapped up the ending remarks, ā€œTo measure God’s grace, you must measure the number of sins we are forgiven for every day. Now compare that to the grace we show each other.ā€ Grace: unmerited favor, freely given, receiving blessings that we don’t deserve by the love of God.

The most valuable title Jesus holds for us is Redeemer. Redemption – the act of being saved, we are presently living in God’s redemption for us. We are humans living in a fallen world, from the beginning with Adam in the garden in Genesis. On our own, we cannot transform our own hearts into hearts like Jesus. Jesus didn’t come to the world to teach us how to be Christians or give us a playbook on how to change our own behavior into His, but He came to save us. When Jesus died on the cross, He took all our sin with Him. He paid for it all in order for us to have intimate relationship with God despite our sin that separates us from Him. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit and can encounter God as holy & blameless, free of sin. Faith is a gift, mercy is a gift, forgiveness is a gift, but most importantly grace is a gift. None of which can be earned by our good behavior & effort. By God sending His own son to save us all, we have proof that God’s grace has no bounds. God’s grace is new every morning when we open our eyes and take a breath. He blesses us continually. Jesus sees all that we do, knows our every thought, searches our hearts. He saw all our sin in its fullness and said I will pay for it all. I will take their place and die on their behalf so that they may live.

This past week I was reflecting on mistakes I had made at work and was disappointed in myself. I was doing the math of how long I had been in this role letting the time decide how much grace I was going to give myself. I heard God whisper to me ā€œGrace cannot be measuredā€. The timeline doesn’t matter. If I’ve made the same mistake 100 times it also doesn’t matter. God’s grace is sufficient. When we take our mistakes, our sin to God, and repent, we are washed clean.


Where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. When we remember how much grace we’ve been given, we begin to give it freely: to the driver trying to merge in traffic, to a friend who hurt us, to strangers, coworkers, family, even to ourselves. We’re all human. We all need it everyday.

We give grace because He gave it first
We love God because He loved us first
We know Him because He already knows us

Planting Seeds 10.12.25

Good afternoon - Fall is here!
Matthew 13:23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.ā€

I was about halfway through writing to you on another topic when God redirected me here through a friend. For those of you who have read ā€˜The Parable of the Sower’ in the book of Matthew, read it again today. For those of you who have never read it, read it today for the first time. Matthew 13:1-23. I’m going to paste it at the end of this email !! 

Planting seeds of faith is a huge part of our walk with God. It’s encourages, strengthens & reaffirms what we already believe in our hearts. It’s how our faith is grown and how the joy of God is spread. It brings us together as brothers & sisters. Often it’s a moment of courage to strip away the opinion of man and focus on sharing God’s love. 

Just a few years ago, I was working as a police dispatcher in the 911 center. The environment was stressful, dark, and chaotic most days. I had just recently been baptized and I didn’t feel confident enough to speak about my faith with most people. We worked 12-hour shifts next to each other and there was plenty of conversation to be had. I was sitting next to a coworker I had just recently met, who now is one of my great friends. She was explaining her commute to work, driving over bridges and having anxious thoughts throughout her drive. That week I heard on a podcast that the Bible was being shared throughout the world as an audio book in different languages to help those working outside in manual labor to bring them peace. Without thinking, I said ā€œyou should throw on the Bible while you drive, it’ll help your thoughtsā€. I didn’t think twice about the comment, I didn’t know anything about her background if she had faith. Later that night I followed it up by sending her my playlist of worship music. A few weeks went by, I had forgotten about it, she came up to me at work to tell me how much the music had helped and how her drives to work had completely changed. She became curious about the peace she was feeling that she had never felt before. After more conversation I gave her a Bible. Before we knew it we ended up going through a plan and reading through the whole Bible together. Both of our lives changed forever and faith deepened from a small seed.

More recently, while serving at the farm, I was going through the corn fields when someone asked if I knew what I was doing. My answer was absolutely not. We became instant friends, going back there together a few times a month to share life updates and God’s work in our lives. We don’t always know what we’re doing or why but He does. He takes small moments and impacts our lives in ways we wouldn’t imagine. He nudged me to encourage a friend at work with His word and gave me the confidence to admit I didn’t know what I was doing in the corn fields. God does the work. It doesn’t take much to plant the seed. To share what’s on your heart. To lend someone a book. To send a verse. To offer prayer to someone struggling. You don’t have to have the right words, just trust. 

Thank you all for sharing your faith and testimonies along side of me. God is planting seeds, watering them and bearing fruit in you all.

ā€œThat same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying:
ā€œA farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.ā€
The disciples came to him and asked, ā€œWhy do you speak to the people in parables?ā€ He replied, ā€œBecause the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables:
ā€œThough seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: ā€œ ā€˜You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’
But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.
 
ā€œListen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.ā€ā€

Happy Sunday 😊Recently I have been surrounded in joy by those around me. Celebrating baby showers, new jobs, volunteering/serving together, buying houses, finding God, engagements & more. I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of love and the prayers answered everywhere I look.

While the past few months have been larger moments for me, I’ve also had months that are quiet. I’ve had times that I’ve questioned whether God hears me or if His presence is with me or if I’m doing something wrong. That’s often when we miss what is right in front of us. God speaks in whispers. The reality is the last two weeks I’ve been busy enough I haven’t made prayer a priority. The more distance I put between God and I, the harder it is to find the motivation to get back to my rhythm. The weekends are filled with events, people, celebrations but Monday-Friday have been hard. I’ve had my head down, trying to get through the workday, just go to home and scroll social media or watch TV until I go to bed. It’s been draining my spirit.

For me, the course of my day solely depends on how I start my day. A few months ago, I bought an alarm clock on Amazon and started charging my phone outside of my room at night. In a world of distractions, removing the main one in the morning has helped me immensely. When I wake up, I go through a similar routine that I got from the book ā€˜Relaxed’ by Meghan Marshman (I keep bringing this book up, everyone should read, it’s life changing).

Starting my day by asking God to lead me, walk with me, help me see Him, and work through my heart changes the outcome of my day. On the mornings I pray, I see God everywhere: through a bumper sticker on the way to work, a coworker’s kindness, having the strength to work out, in the food that nourishes our bodies, in the sunshine. A million little moments that lead to walking with the Lord. Praying in thanksgiving throughout the day. Opposed to when I skip prayer in the morning. All the things I saw the day before are still there. God is still showing up and communicating to me in a million whispers but my eyes, heart & spirit are shut off. I got this from an article a friend sent me awhile ago that I still often think about ā€œTwo natures live within my breast. The one is foul. The one is blessed. The one I love. The one I hate. The one I feed will dominate.ā€ We are products of our environment. Be aware of what you consume, where you go, your habits. The people and places that surround us fill our days with little cues and triggers that can remind of us of God or take us away from His direction. Keep your eyes & heart open. Don’t miss out on the little blessing God sets before you every day. He’s there always even when you aren’t looking.

One of my grandfather’s favorite verses was Philippians 4:8 brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 🩵

Rejoicing in Trials 9.28.25

Good morning 😌

There are seasons of life that are tough. It’s a part of life and there is no avoiding it. Sometimes God answers our prayers with a no for our own protection or sometimes the yes takes way longer than we would like. In the moment it can feel as if He’s not hearing us or not on our side. Doubts creep in about God, about our own faith, and we find ourselves often confused and upset. It’s frustrating, we grow impatient, we want an immediate fix for all our hurt.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 ā€˜Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.’

The way we can rejoice in God through our struggles is by setting our thoughts on His character. Who is God to you? Take a moment and let your mind wander on the answer.

God is love, comfort, compassion, grace, mercy, provision, faithfulness, strength, a friend. He is always good. He never changes; God is not confusion. He always fulfills His promises. He is our Father. In moments of tension if we can pause and list out what God is to us, it changes our perspectives on our circumstances. To put His character in the forefront and not the trial you are in or fixating on the problem. God is the source of our joy, and our joy is driven by where we focus our hearts and minds. In trials, we often want to ask God ā€˜why?’. Often God’s reasoning surpasses what we can understand. He has the bigger picture; He has the plans down to every little detail.

How to walk through trials:

1. The Word
2. Waiting
3. Walking

1. The Word. The Bible can be intimidating to read. There are other books to get started to understand God’s word, please reach out for suggestions. Scripture is one of the ways God speaks to us when we need clarity, it brings understanding. If you find one verse that brings you peace, put it on a sticky note and put it on your front door. Read it before you walk out the door to work and Thank God for the reminder. We are humans, we need constant reminders throughout a single day to think of the Lord.
2. Waiting. In trials, waiting is hard. In our perspective it can feel like we are waiting forever for an answer, a solution, healing, comfort. God does not delay in His timing; His timing is perfect. Instead of waiting anxiously, we can wait well by resting in God’s past faithfulness to us and reading His word. He does His greatest work in our waiting.
3. Walking. Walking by yourself or walking with faith is a choice. It’s neveran easy walk. No one has perfected it. My whole life, I’ve been an extremely independent person. I often take pride in what I can accomplish on my own and what I’m capable of that I didn’t think was possible. It eventually becomes exhausting and overwhelming trying to do it all. Asking for help is something that I’ve been learning for years. It’s still difficult for me now to lean on others. I’ve been praying for God to strip me of my pride and break down my walls. I find so much more rest and gratitude when I walk with God. When I let Him in on everything I’m feeling and thinking and let Him be my strength and guidance.

James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Every Trial has it a specific purpose. God wants us to be full, whole, complete, not lacking anything. To get there we must suffer to be able to grow. To see Him. To understand and know Him. In all our struggles, go to God with all your complaints and let Him turn them into worship. He loves you more than you could ever imagine. Thank Him always for what He has done.

Love one Another 9.21.25

Hi all !

Please be praying this week for the Elliot family who lost their 16 year old daughter and all who were involved in the tragic car accident a few days ago.

As several of you reached out for prayer for the Elliot’s, through the sadness of it, I was inspired. Sharing faith, leaning on each other & loving one another is what this is all about.

ā€œTo be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known but not loved is our greatest fear. To be fully known and truly loved by God is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us from self righteousness and fortifies us for difficult times"

Love can be scary, there’s always fear that it won’t be returned. We often love to the amount we believe will be given in return. When we focus on the love that God has for us, it’s becomes easier to love each other without hesitation. To love like Jesus is to be vulnerable, to give without expecting any in return, to be forgiving, understanding, sacrificial and selfless. To put the needs of others in front of ourselves even when we have differences. Unconditional.

Some of my favorite words from my loved ones over the past few weeks:
- ā€œFrom my last prayer request I have indeed found strength in Christ. I’m grateful to God for equipping me with his strength, right now I pray for consistency to follow through till the end.ā€
- ā€œWe are beginning our church journey. We went to mass for the first time this morning & it felt so goodā€
- ā€œYour FAITH and how you share it is truly what we’re all asked to do. Keep me in the loop on future emails as you motivate me and I’m sure you’re making other people think about what’s really important.ā€

These messages mean so much to me. I’m so grateful God is using me to be sharing His love and it’s changing my life. It’s the reminder I need daily to know that God started this community and He will continue to fulfill and sustain it. These words are the reason I love sharing my faith with others. To know others are experiencing the presence of God is filling my heart. I can’t begin to explain the joy I experience when I read them and the smile that comes across my face. I feel like a little kid on Christmas. Thank you all for being here. Don’t hesitate to send the text, say I love you and pray a little extra. We all need it.

The Power of Your Story 9.14.25

You all are deepening my faith daily & holding me accountable in your prayer requests. This week was heavy on many hearts. I try to remind myself of the importance of keeping our focus on truths of God’s promises & hope. The prayer request box has been updated for easier submissions without entering emails. Keep the requests coming! I see God moving in so many lives around me.

Two days ago I celebrated my birthday. Birthdays often bring reflection and while I was born 29 years ago, it’s only been 2 years since I was baptized. I remember being so sure of wanting change but unsure what that would look like or how to begin. I had heard of lives changing through God and was witnessing my brother start to preach to me the same message. I remember thinking, ā€œwas I capable?ā€  ā€œhow would I change my life so drastically?ā€. When I look back to who I was then it feels like a lifetime ago. I didn’t have to know the steps in between to get myself there, I just had to loosen my grip and trust. God guided me with one foot in front of the other.

 I heard on a podcast recently: David wasn’t able to beat Goliath out of his own strength. He didn’t have the confidence in himself that he was stronger than a giant. He walked into battle with confidence because of the God he served. He looked back at the testimonies of his own life to know that God would deliver him from this battle just as God had done for him everytime before. We overcome battles by the power of Jesus and the word of our testimony.

 I often get swept up in the pressures of the day to day. I lose sight of the big picture. I feel like I’ve had faith long enough I should have it all figured out already, I should be better in prayer and more consistent in my time. In reality, I will never have it all figured out and there is no right way to do any of it. Faith is a journey. A personal one.  Our testimonies are important. Can you think of moments in your life, big or small that God orchestrated, maybe when you weren’t even looking? Write them down. When you have doubts, when you are scared, when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders & you aren’t sure how you will make it through the next battle: Pull out the list. Remember His faithfulness. God’s plans are better than our own. Take comfort in the fact that God goes before us. He knows what’s in front of us and is never surprised. He prepares the way and just asks us to walk with Him.

It's in the risk - Where we find God 9.7.25

Happy Sunday šŸ’› thank you all for the engagement and excitement as I kicked off this adventure last week, I am so excited to be on it with you.

 But also, I plan every week to show the raw side of my relationship with God with you all. As soon as I hit send last week I spent most of Sunday refreshing my email for responses. In a blink of an eye all of my eagerness for this project turned into thoughts of insecurities and worry. How will I keep it going? Will anyone read what I’m putting out there? Maybe the whole thing was a bad idea? I tried to stop the thoughts and force myself to have faith that this all had a purpose.

 That’s where my faith fails everytime, when I try to strive for it for on my own & try to gain control. With all of my focus on myself, I lack perspective. I have a sticky note in my house that says ā€˜Square One’. Some days I read it and let it sink in, other days I blow by it and go to work. Square one is a reminder of where my faith started. God planted that seed & He sustains it, not me. ā€œAre you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?ā€ Galatians 3:3

I took some time in prayer and asked God to help transform my heart away from my own pride. Like He always does, God met me where I was at and I found myself reading a section of the book ā€˜Relaxed’ by Megan Marshman on taking risks. ā€œWhen I prepare a message in my own strength with my own interests in mind, I think about how it (and I) will be received. But when I consider a heavenly perspective, my process changes. My whole focus changes. I don't care about how I'm going to be received anymore, I just want people to be received into heaven. I want to make sure people know the truth that sets them eternally free. When I think about heaven, I worry less about what people think of me.ā€

As I took on that perspective I could feel my heart find peace. I told myself in starting this that if I could bring one person closer to God that I would be rejoicing. So today I’m rejoicing in taking the risk, putting myself out there and finding God by my side in every step. 

If having faith was easy, anyone would do it but taking risks and sacrificing some of your own wants for God’s desires can only be accomplished by going through the journey along side the one who created us. Hope you all are encouraged to step out of your comfort zone in some way this week. Ask God to help lead you.

I have been growing in my faith & it brings great joy to my heart to encourage others alongside me. God has brought me here. I created a website for connection with you & the Lord. I have many people in my life looking for more ways to see His light.šŸ’”Many of us don’t take time in this busy life for ourselves or God. I pray that God uses me to touch your heart. I challenge you to take 15 minutes out of your Sunday and sit down with Him & just talk. Jesus is your best friend.

I have created a box for prayer requests. Please use it. All of our worries & trials, big & small, everyone needs prayer. The power of prayer is undervalued. The world is dark and I want all of you to feel the extreme comfort I do in my faith. It’s our direct line to the one who is sovereign over every small detail of every single day of your life. He hears our prayers and He is working for our good in every way. Romans 8:28
